VARIANTS is a collection of small sculptures made of miscellaneous materials and found objects, each representing a variant of the Coronavirus which caused the worldwide pandemic in 2020.

I was inspired by this historic moment to create a visual collection of the parallels between the CoVid-19 variants and the biodiversity of humans. Both human beings and the CoVid-19 virus are quickly evolving in unprecedented ways.

My collection of Variants refers to the insect and butterfly collections admired in natural history museums throughout the world. I add the element of irony in that something so frightening that spreads so widely can also be fascinating, appealing and even beautiful.

Each Variant is labeled with an actual CoVid-19 variant WHO classification number and a title corresponding to a human trait to enable us to see ourselves in parallel with the Pandemic.
